Alpe de Huez

Bikes ready, weathers fine and it's time to do what we came to do. Today's intro is an ascent of the Alp de Huez. A mere 50 km return trip with a 1,100 metre ascent over 14 km, an exhilarating descent at speeds approaching 80 km/h and the return up "the driveway". The ride was a success for all, the scenery spectacular defying a just description....... Hopefully a few photos to follow.
We revisited the Indian Cafe atop the Alp with "Cher" still providing service and impressing the boys, followed by too much lunch back in Bourg de Oisans which set us up poorly for the ride home.
At the end we were all suitably tired and content watch the tour and plan an attack on the Col du Galibier tomorrow. Good weather is a prerequisite for this climb which promises to be perfect. ..... not sure for later in the week.
This will have to do for today, it's late again and I need my rest for tomorrow, so
Bon noir

  1. Good job guys, I can't tell you how much this is making me want to be there. Certainly brings back memories.
Enjoy Galibier, it was one of my favourites days, dig deep for the last 200m.
