Another sunny morning dawns and new hills await. This time an unknown loop incorporating the Col de Spandelles then on to the Col du Solour and then out ultimate destination the Col d' Aubisque. Which incorporated 80 km in distance, 2,300 and something metres of climbing over about 4.5 hours. Needless to say the scenery was again spectacular, the bodies tired, the food great and can hardly fit enough in to keep the batteries charged. The ride did take in a little more than planned in that as pleasant and challenging as it was to reach the first Col de Spandelles we had little idea of the extent of the decent on the other side... long steep and narrow, not that this was such a problem, it was only the realisation that all of the mornings climb (about 1000m) was to be re-enacted to reach our next destination the Col de Solour...and we did as there was little choice being on the wrong side of the hill to home. Col de Solour to the Aubisque was relatively easy... a few snaps and ready for the 30 km decent back to Argeles Gozost.
First thing back in town was to the pizza shop for more food, then showers and wander around town and in no time we were sitting down to another 5 course dinner in the most charming Beau Site Hotel.
And that must be all for now as all have abandoned to bed and so must I.
The following pictures can tell the story of the ride.
